Hightide Radiometer

The radiometer is an invention from 1870, invented by the British physicist William Crooks, who called it a 'light mill'. Radiometers originally served as a laboratory instrument to investigate the conversion of light energy into kinetic energy.

The wings of the radiometer in the vacuum glass ball are activated by electromagnetic radiation, e.g. light. The rotational speed of the radiometer changes depending on the light intensity and light source. When there is more sunlight or other "warm light" eg incandescent lamps, the turning speed of the mill changes.
